1934年5月2日出生于湖南桃江

學(xué)習(xí)經(jīng)歷：

1950年入湖南大學(xué)經(jīng)濟(jì)系。

1954年于中南財(cái)經(jīng)學(xué)院經(jīng)濟(jì)系畢業(yè)后到財(cái)政經(jīng)濟(jì)出版社（北京）任助理編輯。1957年初入中國(guó)人民大學(xué)哲學(xué)系作西方哲學(xué)史專業(yè)副博士研究生。

1961年初畢業(yè)后到復(fù)旦大學(xué)哲學(xué)系任教至今，1984年特批為教授，1996年被授予首席教授榮譽(yù)稱號(hào),2008年被聘為復(fù)旦大學(xué)文科特聘資深教授。先后擔(dān)任西方哲學(xué)史、現(xiàn)代西方哲學(xué)及有關(guān)西方哲學(xué)的多種專題課程的教學(xué)。

1986年被批準(zhǔn)在復(fù)旦大學(xué)哲學(xué)系建立現(xiàn)代外國(guó)哲學(xué)專業(yè)博士點(diǎn)（后來(lái)并入外國(guó)哲學(xué)），開(kāi)始擔(dān)任博士生導(dǎo)師。培養(yǎng)過(guò)博士生50余名。

擔(dān)任職位：

沒(méi)有擔(dān)任過(guò)行政職務(wù)和黨內(nèi)職務(wù)，但擔(dān)任過(guò)較多學(xué)術(shù)職務(wù)。

1979年中國(guó)現(xiàn)代外國(guó)哲學(xué)學(xué)會(huì)成立起即為理事，1992－2003年任副理事長(zhǎng)，2004年起任顧問(wèn)。

1983年任全國(guó)高等教育自學(xué)考試指導(dǎo)委員會(huì)哲學(xué)專業(yè)委員會(huì)委員。

1992年和1997年任國(guó)務(wù)院學(xué)位委員會(huì)哲學(xué)學(xué)科評(píng)議組成員（第三、四屆）。

1997年任第一屆高等學(xué)校哲學(xué)學(xué)科教學(xué)指導(dǎo)委員會(huì)副主任。

1998年起任國(guó)家哲學(xué)社會(huì)科學(xué)基金哲學(xué)學(xué)科評(píng)議組成員。還曾擔(dān)任過(guò)全國(guó)博士后流動(dòng)站管委會(huì)哲學(xué)學(xué)科評(píng)議組成員，教育部“長(zhǎng)江學(xué)者”學(xué)科專家評(píng)議組成員。

1980年代起多次擔(dān)任過(guò)上海市哲學(xué)社會(huì)科學(xué)規(guī)劃評(píng)審組、優(yōu)秀科研成果評(píng)審組以及學(xué)位委員會(huì)哲學(xué)學(xué)科評(píng)議組的召集人或成員。

1990年代曾擔(dān)任復(fù)旦大學(xué)校務(wù)委員會(huì)委員、學(xué)術(shù)委員會(huì)委員、學(xué)位評(píng)定委員會(huì)委員。曾任哲學(xué)系西方哲學(xué)學(xué)科的學(xué)術(shù)負(fù)責(zé)人，現(xiàn)代哲學(xué)研究所（非實(shí)體）第一任所長(zhǎng)，哲學(xué)系博士后流動(dòng)站第一任站長(zhǎng)。

2004年任復(fù)旦大學(xué)新成

立的杜威與美國(guó)哲學(xué)研究中心主任。曾為國(guó)內(nèi)十余所大學(xué)聘請(qǐng)為兼職教授（或名譽(yù)教授、顧問(wèn)、學(xué)術(shù)委員）。

主要研究方向：

西方哲學(xué)史、現(xiàn)代西方哲學(xué)、實(shí)用主義、馬克思主義與西方哲學(xué)比較研究。

Liu Fang-tong

born in Taojiang, Hunan Province on 2 May, 1934

Academic experiences:

1、in 1950, the Department of Economics of Hunan University;

2、in 1954, the Department of Economics of Zhongnan Finance College; an assistant editor in Financial and Economic Publishing House (Beijing) after graduation

3、in early 1957, the Department of Philosophy, Renmin University of China, an assistant doctoral student majoring in Western Philosophy

4、since his graduation at the beginning of 1961, teaching at the Department of Philosophy of Fudan University; in 1984, a professor; in 1996, being awarded the honorary title of chief professor; and in 2008 being hired as senior distinguished professor of Arts; teaching successively “ history of Philosophy”, “contemporary Western Philosophy”, and many other courses;

5、in 1986, being approved to establish the doctor station of contemporary foreign Philosophy (later merged into that of foreign Philosophy) at the Department of Philosophy of Fudan University, and beginning as a doctoral supervisor; having directed more than 50 doctoral students
 
Positions:

Serving no administrative duties and Party posts, he has taken many academic positions:

1、la director of the Society of Contemporary Foreign Philosophy of China since its birth in 1979, then a vice President during1992-2003 and a consultant since 2004;

2、lin 1983, a member of Committee of Philosophy of the Guiding Council for National Higher Education Self-study Examination

3、lin 1992 and 1997, a member of the Appraisal Group of the Philosophy Discipline of the Committee of Academic Degrees of the State Council (the third and fourth session);

4、lin 1997, deputy director of the 1st Directing Committee for Philosophy Discipline of Institution of Higher Learning;

5、Since 1998, a member of the Appraisal Group for Philosophy Discipline of the National Philosophy and Social Sciences Fund; a member of the Appraisal Group for Philosophy Discipline of the Management Committee of the National Post-doctoral Mobile Stations; a member of the Appraisal Group of Subject Experts for Changjiang Scholars of the Ministry of Education;

6、since 1980s, serving for many times as the convener or a member of the Shanghai Planing Appraisal Group for Philosophy and Social Sciences, of the Shanghai Appraisal Group for Outstanding Scientific Achievements, and of the Shanghai Appraisal Group of the Philosophy Discipline of the Committee of Academic Degrees;
7、during 1990 s, a former member of the Administrative Committee, of the Academic Committee, and of the Assessment Committee, of Fudan University for Academic Degrees; the former academic head of the discipline of Western Philosophy; the first director (non-entity) of the Institute of Modern Philosophy; the first director of Post-doctoral Mobile Station of the Department of Philosophy;

8、in 2004, the director of the Center for Dewey and American Philosophy Studies of Fudan University; ever hired by more than 10 domestic universities as a part-time professor (or honorary professor, consultants, a member of an academic committee)
