劉少軍教授 20 多年來對(duì)魚類遠(yuǎn)緣雜交和染色體倍性操作開展了系統(tǒng)研究,提出了魚類遠(yuǎn)緣雜交可形成兩性可育品系的新觀點(diǎn),建立了系統(tǒng)的魚類遠(yuǎn)緣雜交理論和技術(shù)體系。其研究成果為研制新型優(yōu)良魚類提供了新途徑,也為證明魚類可沿著這些可育品系的形成途徑進(jìn)行演化提供了重要證據(jù) ;證明存在鯉魚與團(tuán)頭魴雜交形成鯽魚的進(jìn)化途徑,首次證明了 A 物種與 B 物種雜交可以形成 C 物種。 他主持研制出源于遠(yuǎn)緣雜交的同源四倍體魚、改良異源四倍體魚、同源二倍體魚品系和異源二倍體魚品系等可育品系,并用之結(jié)合染色體倍性操作技術(shù)研制了在生產(chǎn)上有重要應(yīng)用價(jià)值的優(yōu)良三倍體魚和二倍體魚,其中湘云鯽 2 號(hào)、鳊鲴雜交魚和雜交翹嘴魴 3 個(gè)新品種獲得農(nóng)業(yè)部水產(chǎn)新品種證書;用倍間交配方法大規(guī)模研制的具有不育、體型美觀、肉質(zhì)鮮嫩、抗逆性強(qiáng)、生長(zhǎng)速度快、小刺少等優(yōu)點(diǎn)的優(yōu)良三倍體魚在全國推廣養(yǎng)殖,產(chǎn)生了顯著的經(jīng)濟(jì)、社會(huì)和生態(tài)效益。
劉少軍教授 以第一完成人 (2011 年 ) 及第四完成人 (2003 年 ) 兩次獲國家科技進(jìn)步二等獎(jiǎng);領(lǐng)銜 “ 淡水魚類發(fā)育生物學(xué)團(tuán)隊(duì) ” 獲 “ 全國專業(yè)技術(shù)人才先進(jìn)集體 ” 稱號(hào) (2014 年 ) ;以第一完成人獲湖南省科技進(jìn)步一等獎(jiǎng)( 2008 年) 和 湖南省技術(shù)發(fā)明一等獎(jiǎng) ( 2015 年); 以第三完成人獲中國專利優(yōu)秀獎(jiǎng); 以第一完成人獲得國家發(fā)明專利 2 2 項(xiàng);主持培養(yǎng)畢業(yè)了 1 9 名博士生和 4 4 名碩士生, 3 名出站博士后,培養(yǎng)了一大批本科生;主持了國家杰出青年科學(xué)基金,國家 “973” 計(jì)劃課題,國家 “863” 計(jì)劃子課題,國家自然科學(xué)基金重點(diǎn)項(xiàng)目( 3 項(xiàng))、國家自然科學(xué)基金重大國際合作研究項(xiàng)目、國家自然科學(xué)基金面上項(xiàng)目,科技部農(nóng)業(yè)成果轉(zhuǎn)化基金等 4 0 多項(xiàng)國家及省部級(jí)課題。

劉少軍教授積極參加國內(nèi)外的學(xué)術(shù)交流活動(dòng),他先后受邀參加了在 美國 ( 2016年 ) 和 澳大利亞(2014年)舉行的世界水產(chǎn)學(xué)會(huì)學(xué)術(shù)年會(huì),在法國 (2007年) 舉行的第八屆國際魚類繁殖生理學(xué)大會(huì),在新加坡 (2013年) 舉行的魚類遺傳育種專題會(huì)議 , 在臺(tái)灣(2007,2009年)、武漢(2008年)分別舉行的第一、二、三屆海峽兩岸“魚類生理與養(yǎng)殖”研討會(huì), 在北京(2015年)舉行的“淡水生物學(xué)的前沿科學(xué)問題”香山科學(xué)會(huì)議 ,并在上述大會(huì)中作學(xué)術(shù)報(bào)告,得到了眾多專家的好評(píng);由于其在魚類生理與養(yǎng)殖研究領(lǐng)域具有較強(qiáng)的影響力,他已成為每年一次例會(huì)的海峽兩岸“魚類生理與養(yǎng)殖”研討會(huì)的大陸方面的發(fā)起人,并成功主持和承辦了第四屆海峽兩岸“魚類生理與養(yǎng)殖”研討會(huì),為推動(dòng)海峽兩岸的水產(chǎn)科學(xué)研究做出了突出貢獻(xiàn)。
